ChatGPT Can Now Respond to Your Voice and Analyze Your Photos
OpenAI’s artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT, is set to receive new voice and picture recognition capabilities. This enhancement will allow users to verbally pose questions to the chatbot and also enable it to analyze photos. The announcement was made by OpenAI in a recent blog post.
Voice Interaction with ChatGPT
With the new update, users can directly communicate with the ChatGPT app using their voice. For instance, if you request ChatGPT to narrate a bedtime story, the AI will autonomously craft a story and recite it aloud.
Photo Analysis Capabilities
ChatGPT’s new feature also empowers it to identify elements within an image. This means if you take a picture of your pantry, ChatGPT can analyze the items present and suggest relevant recipes. Another practical application includes taking a photo of a bicycle and asking ChatGPT for guidance on adjusting the seat height. To further assist, the AI chatbot might request a photo of your toolbox and the relevant manual, enabling it to recommend the appropriate tools and instructions.
Availability and User Base
These voice recognition and photo analysis features are scheduled to be available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users within the next two weeks. Despite its initial success as the fastest-growing app with approximately 100 million active monthly users, ChatGPT has experienced a decline in its user base since the start of this year. This could be attributed to the fading novelty of the app or the rising competition from Google’s Bard and Bing’s AI chat.
Impact and Concerns
ChatGPT’s influence on the tech world is significant. Post its launch, numerous companies have incorporated generative AI technology into their software, ranging from language learning platforms like Duolingo to fitness applications. However, generative AI is not without its flaws. There are instances where the AI might provide misleading or incorrect information but frame it convincingly. Such occurrences are termed as ‘hallucinations’. Additionally, there’s a potential risk of malicious individuals using AI-generated voices for deceitful purposes. To counteract this, OpenAI has restricted ChatGPT to a maximum of five voices.
Activating ChatGPT Voice Recognition
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select New Features.
- Opt for Voice Conversations.
- Click on the headphone icon situated at the top right corner of the home screen.
- Choose from the five available voices.
